Lucky for me, my daughter Grace was home from college at the time and added her lovely harmonies to the song.

Like (What's Wrong with a) Surprise, this was recorded in the living room in the old house in Vermont, but, significantly, the wood fire is out in this one. Yes, that's me looking down at the lyrics a couple of times toward the end.

Written over the last week in September and recorded on October 11, 2010. This should be a fun one to perform.

My son Matthew does a little rocking out of his own in this video, which also features a brief look at the vintage 1964 Gretsch electric I played in my band days. Cammy makes her video debut in an unscripted walk-on at the end of the video (okay, okay, my playing woke her up), that works beautifully. Written July 18 and recorded July 20, 2010. Finished songs have a way of nagging you to let them out into the world and the "new song of the week" will give some of my new material that chance, while also giving me the opportunity to get real-time reactions from my friends and fans.

The debut new song of the week is Forgetting on Purpose, written a couple of weeks ago about one of my minor victories in the process of moving into middle age. The audio and video were recorded live at a family house in Belvidere, Vermont in 95 degree heat and feature my daughter Grace assisting me in the performance.
